The Tianguis Turistico Conference happening in Cancun!
Mexico’s Tianguis Turistico is already off to an exciting start. For its 2014 edition, Mexico’s most famous travel conference is happening in the gorgeous beach destination of Cancun from May 6 – 9. Known for its white sand beaches and bright blue Caribbean Sea, Cancun is home to some of the world’s best All Inclusive resorts, including Sandos Cancun Luxury Experience Resort. Cancun is located in the state of Quintana Roo, which is also known for important tourism destinations like Tulum and the Riviera Maya.
The exhibitors at this year’s Tianguis Turistico (meaning “Tourism Market”) have flown in from numerous Mexican states like Nayarit, Yucatan, Veracruz, Guerrero, Chiapas and beyond, meaning that attendees from 59 countries will have the chance to view everything from Mexican colonial travel to eco tours and vibrant beach destinations in one huge event.
The Tianguis Turistico is now in its 39th year. For nearly four decades, the annual event has promoted the wide variety of vibrant attractions that Mexico has to offer! This year, the Tianguis is taking place at the new Lakam Center, a beautiful, spacious and modern conference center situated just a few minutes south of Cancun International Airport. While the expo is invitation-only and open only to travel professionals, the city of Cancun will have its own event open to the general public on Wednesday and Thursday night at Malecon Tajamar, by the lagoon. Representatives from several states will be present to show their local culture to the public through dance, cuisine, theater, fashion and artisanry.
Who’s there?
Governor of Quintana Roo state Beto Borge, Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto, and Mexico’s Secretary of Tourism Claudia Ruiz Massieu were all present on the first day to officially open the Tianguis Turistico, showing just how important this event is for Mexico’s thriving tourism industry.
