It’s full-on soccer season, and we know that not all soccer fans are in Russia right now to celebrate… because there are some places that are a little less chilly where you can experience your passion for the game.

At Sandos Hotels & Resorts, we invited our Mexico beach resorts get creative and make fun drinks in honor of the flags of the most popular countries that are participating in the 2018 World Cup, and they surprised us!

Remember that the density of the liquors is important in these cocktails because it’s what keeps the colors separate.

We challenge you to try some delicious treats from our World Cup drink list:

Mexico

Cocktail made at Sandos Finisterra Los Cabos

If you’re staying at any of the Sandos hotels in Mexico, this drink is almost mandatory and you will love it!

The best part is the passion with which our bartenders prepare it, and of course it includes tequila.

You will need:

• Melon liqueur
• Piña colada (coconut cream, pineapple juice and rum)
• Strawberry margarita with extra tequila
• Ice

How to make it:

Pour the melon liquor first so that it stays on the bottom of your favorite glass, and then add the frozen piña colada (made with coconut cream, pineapple juice and rum). To finish, add a festive touch with strawberry margarita and extra tequila. Viva Mexico!

Russia

Cocktail made at Sandos Cancun Lifestyle Resort

Are you ready to watch Russia’s performance? The Eurasian national team will debut in the tournament on June 14 versus Saudi Arabia.

The land of former goalscorer Aleksandr Kerzhakov brings you a very colorful drink that’s perfect for the sunny days of the Caribbean, so you can’t miss it on your next vacation at Sandos Cancun or any other Sandos hotel in Mexico.

You will need:

• Blue Curaçao
• Strawberry daiquiri
• Piña colada (with rum)
• Ice

How to make it:

If you don’t find the strawberry daiquiri mix, you can make it yourself by blending fresh or frozen strawberries, a spoonful of lime juice, a spoonful of sugar and 1/2 ounce of rum. You can also make the piña colada at home; you only have to mix a part of white rum, three parts of pineapple juice, and a part of milk or coconut cream. Then blend the blue curaçao with ice.

To finish, you will have to blend each mixture with a lot of ice to create a delicious multicolored frappe.

Argentina

Cocktail made at Sandos Playacar Beach Resort

Definitely one of the most beloved soccer flags at Sandos Playacar, so of course it needed its own drink to celebrate each Argentinean goal for this World Cup.

You will need:

• Blue sambuca liqueur
• Coconut cream
• Vodka

How to make it:

First pour the blue sambuca and then the vodka (the exact amount is up to you, but remember: everything in moderation). Then finish adding the coconut cream. This will give it a body that you do not expect in a drink of this electrifying color.

Belgium

Did you know that Belgium has participated in a total of twelve World Cups? In addition, it has obtained good results in the European Championship, earning third place in 1972 and reaching the final in 1980.

Inspired by this multilingual country, we have created this colorful drink.

You will need:

• Sambuca
• Orange juice with vodka
• Cherry liqueur
• Ice

How to make it:

You will have to blend all the ingredients separately with a lot of ice until it has the consistency of frappé, then carefully pour each color so you can see the colors separately. It takes some time and attention, but it’s worth it. It’s delicious and refreshing!

Germany

Cocktail made at Sandos Caracol Eco Resort

A very special combination awaits your palate with this shot inspired by one of the most modern countries in the world.

Germany will feel very close after you try this drink with all its colors, a real challenge for our bartender Roy at Sandos Caracol!

You will need:

• Orange juice
• Grenadine
• Coffee liqueur

How to make it:

Very simple, just pour orange juice into a shot glass, add a little grenadine along the edge, and wait until it sinks to the bottom due to its density. Then add some coffee liqueur to the top and get ready for this unexpected explosion of flavor.

Spain

Cocktail made at Sandos Caracol Eco Resort

Did you know that in Spain there is one bar for every 169 inhabitants? That means that this is the ideal drink, since it’s very light and will let you keep visiting as many bars as you like.

The perfect way to start your soccer day is with a mimosa, to which we’ve added a cherry to make it resemble the Spanish flag. Olé!

You will need:

• Orange juice
• Champagne (or other sparkling wine)
• Cherries

How to make it:

In a tall glass of very cold champagne, add sugar at the edge with a little orange juice, then pour the orange juice to fill half the cup, then fill the other half with champagne. To finish, add one or two cherries to the bottom of the glass and serve cold.

France

They say it’s always happy hour in France because this is the country that covers the most time zones: 12 in total!

In honor of the most visited country in the world, we have created this interesting drink that will make you want another shot, BUT remember to drink responsibly!

You will need:

• Coconut cream
• Strawberry daiquiri (rum, strawberry and a touch of orange)
• Blue Hawaii (piña colada with vodka and blue curaçao)

How to make it:

Pour the coconut cream to the bottom of the shot glass, then carefully add the strawberry daiquiri mixture, and finally add a layer of Blue Hawaii mix and that’s it. Cheers!

Brazil

Cocktail made at Sandos Playacar Beach Resort

We could not miss this drink on our list. Did you know that Brazil has never missed a World Cup? So you will always be in tune with the World Cup thanks to this cocktail.

The biggest-ever soccer match audience in Brazil was at a game between Brazil and Paraguay in the 1970 World Cup. It was seen by 183,341 fans who surely clinked their glasses with a delicious drink like the one Sandos Playacar brings for you.

You will need:

• Cachaça (a liqueur made in Brazil)
• Orange juice
• Melon liqueur

How to make it:

This drink is magical! You can prepare it in the order you want, because the cachaça liqueur has a special density to separate the colors. You’re going to love it.

England

Cocktail made at Sandos Finisterra Los Cabos

This country gets along well with everyone, and that’s why we added internationally famous and delicious flavors to this drink.

You will need:

To make the red mix

• Margarita mix
• Ice
• Lime juice
• Orange liqueur
• Strawberry juice

To make the blue mix

• Rum
• Blue Curaçao
• Coconut cream
• Pineapple juice

How to make it:

We make the red and blue mixes separately, and then add the red to the bottom of a glass to finish with the blue drink. The most important thing is that it is served very cold in a pool with an impressive view like the one at Sandos Finisterra.

Uruguay

Did you know that Uruguay hosted the first World Cup in history? Definitely an iconic country for this famous tournament.

This drink features colors inspired by the flag of the country known for its excellent soccer skills. Be careful with the portions, as it combines many liqueurs.

You will need:

• Margarita (tequila, orange liqueur and lime juice)
• Blue Hawaii (rum, vodka, blue curaçao and pineapple juice)
• Ice

How to make it:

Very simple, just blend the margarita mix with ice, then separately do the same with the Blue Hawaii mix, and serve in a glass.

Colombia

Did you know that the Colombia national soccer team has played five World Cups? (Russia will be the sixth). This is a drink full of flavor, like all the cocktails in this country. If your palate enjoys exotic tones, this drink will delight you.

You will need:

• Cranberry juice
• Blue Sambuca
• Ice
• Orange juice

How to make it:

The key to making this cocktail is to separate the juices with the sambuca and let the colors mix little by little; that is, add the cranberry juice first, then add the orange juice, pour the sambuca, wait for the magic, add ice and go!
