Taking Care of Our World with Sustainable Vacations

One resort can change the world

Since the year 1880, temperatures worldwide have increased by just under 1°C. According to findings by NASA’s Goddard Institute for Space Studies, evidence shows that this increase is due to a combination of several human factors that affect temperature in different ways: use of aerosols, ozone pollution, deforestation, and mainly the greenhouse effect. (Click here to see an excellent presentation showing the combined effects of all these human factors.) The greenhouse effect is caused largely by carbon dioxide (CO₂), a gas created by the burning of carbon-based fuels.

In recent decades, global warming has had devastating effects on our planets. Ice is melting in the north and south poles, taking away vital living space to the species that live there, like penguins. Precipitation has increased worldwide. The sea level has risen. Some animal species have migrated further north in search of cooler temperatures.

It appears that human activity is creating unnatural changes to our planted, and all living beings are paying the price. Right now the COP21 (21st Conference of Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change) is taking place until December 11, 2015 in Paris, France. One of its primary goals is to reach an international agreement to keep global warming under 2°C, and all of the humans living on this planet can contribute in our own way.
