A brand new aqua park recently opened in Sandos Playacar, and if your travel buddies include the little ones, you are going to want to put this on your bucket list to visit.
The Grand Opening on Children’s Day
On April 30th, a beautiful, warm, and sunny day, families staying at Sandos Playacar woke up with a feeling of joy. As the hardworking staff prepared for the grand opening, delicious food and desserts, fun games, and the best DJs in the Caribbean were being prepared for what looked to be the best grand opening of the year.
During the afternoon, families gathered around the pool area located in the family section of the resort. Accompanied by vibrant music and dancing with the entertainment team, it was finally time to welcome the new mini-aqua park to the Sandos Playacar family. As it was Children’s Day, it was only fitting that kids from across the world came together to cut the ribbon!

Once the ribbon was cut, children playfully went into the refreshing water with one mission on their mind, riding down the brand new slides. Bamboo Island consists of:
- One large twisting slide
- 3-medium slides
- Two small slides
Bamboo Island is available for smaller children who are wanting to take a break out of the sun and have some fun while refreshing. This new mini-aquapark is conveniently located just steps away from the family area. As an added bonus, the little ones can splash around safely while the parents enjoy a refreshing cocktail in the swim-up bar at the pool just next to the aquapark.
More Fun Throughout the Day
Though the aqua park was the main highlight of the day, the fun didn’t stop there. Close by, there was a live DJ and fun games to take part in. Children were able to ride a mechanical bull, run across the water on a slip and slide, and roll around the water in an inflatable ball. To join the party, superheroes like the Incredibles, Spiderman, Batman, and even the famous Sanditos were there to take photos and dance around with the kids.
When the stomachs were rumbling, families were able to enjoy some of the finest snacks in the Riviera Maya, including delicious desserts, hamburgers, hot dogs, and chips – the perfect food for a day by the pool.
The Sandos Vlog
Not only was it a special day for Sandos Playacar with the inauguration of Bamboo Island, but it was also a grand day for Sandos Hotels & Resorts as the Sandos Vlog made its return to the spotlight. Grazi from Brazil and Spencer from Canada are the new hosts for the Sandos Vlog, and their first adventure was covering the event.
