Sandos Hotels and Resorts: Company Committed to Education

On Friday April 29, Sandos Playacar Beach Resort & Spa, represented by  Director Ruben Martinez Sanchez, recieved the Certification “Company Committed to Education“. Awarded at the Union of the CROC by  National Institute for Adult Education (INEA), this award recognizes Sandos Playacar Beach Resort & Spa for our on-site adult education efforts.  The INEA awards certificates to companies that make significant efforts to ensure that their workplace supports the elimination of the educational achievement gap in Mexico.  It’s our goal to see all of our employees advance their educations and realize their career goals.

Through our Open Learning Program, Sandos Playacar Beach Resort & Spa worked with 69 adult employees to evaluate their continuing education needs and provide academic coursework that will allow them to reenter and complete their primary or secondary diplomas.  We began this program in August, 2010, and have currently awarded 25 employees their primary and secondary school diplomas.  Our next goal is to earn the INEA certificate, “Company Free From Educational Gaps”.  We look forward to completing this goal by August, 2013, when we expect to graduate the remaining 45 students from the program.  In addition, in January, 2012 Sandos Playacar Beach Resort & Spa Open Learning Program expanded employee education services to include an on-site open high school program.  We currently have 13 employees studying  towards the completion of their high school diplomas.

My family became owners a week ago. The more we learn about the Sandos company the more we love them. Sandos is paying it forward with their adult education and Eco programs to make their communities and therefore the world a better place. These efforts will come back to Sandos ten fold. We hope other companies learn from Sandos’ model.
