Check out one of the newest additions to Sandos Playacar Beach Resort & Spa! Bagel Beach opened in December 2012, offering a completely laid-back atmosphere on the resort’s Caribbean beach.

Dig in to a salty or sweet bagel with the sand between your toes while surrounded by tropical palapas, swaying palm trees and spectacular ocean views at Bagel Beach, our most recent a la carte restaurant. The menu is covered in mouthwatering recipes, including dessert bagels (hello, Nutella!), burgers, hot dogs and bagels with cool names like the “Explosive Firefighter Bagel”. Feeling summery? Try the Sandos Bagel with cheddar cheese, salami, provolone, lime vinaigrette, lettuce, tomato and onion.

Open for dinner, this casual spot has zero dress code! Just throw a cover-up over your swimsuit and you’re good to go.

Sandos Playacar Completes Renovated Hacienda Section

On December 1, 2012 Sandos Playacar Resort and Spa completed a lengthy project of extensive renovations in the Hacienda Section of the property.  These hacienda-style suites now feature a fresh, minimalistic interior design and spacious private areas that combine to offer the ideal lodging option for couples and families.

Couples visiting Sandos Playacar will enjoy the quiet, romantic setting of the Hacienda Section, which features private outdoor pools and Jacuzzis.  Families can take advantage of connecting rooms, which allow groups to book the suites together and share special vacation moments in the indoor and outdoor spaces.

Merry Christmas!!

Recipe: Duck Ham

Ingredients:

• 1 duck breast
• 700 grams of salt (depending on the size of the breast)
• freshly ground black pepper
• 1 tablespoon of duck fat or extra virgin olive oil

Preparation:
• Clean and dry the duck
• Place salt in small container
• Lay duck breast on salt bed and store in cold area for 12-20 hours
• Remove the salt
• Mix black pepper with duck fat and baste the breast in this mixture
• Place breast on a skewer or hook for curing

For high quality duck ham it is important to keep the duck in a cool, dry and draft-free area. If you have to put in the open, cover the breast with a fabric.

Curing time depends on size, climate, and humidity. If you have limited time to prepare the duck ham, buy a thinner piece of meat, and once it is almost cured, cut it into slices.

This will accelerate the drying, although thicker pieces will be more juicy.
It is very important to always keep the meat at a low temperature (between 4 and 10 degrees C)
