Summer is almost here! And we bet the kids are already daydreaming about how to spend a sunny beach vacation now that school’s out. Our family beach resorts at Sandos are chock full of things to do whether you’re still learning your ABCs or taking your own kids to a tropical paradise.
Here a few ways to take full advantage of every second of this summer’s family vacation at Sandos Hotels and Resorts:
1. Building a sandcastle on a Caribbean beach
2. A daytime bike ride to explore the resort’s grounds
3. A round of chess by a lush mangrove jungle
4. A day of activities and learning at one of our kids clubs
5. A round of pool or air hockey: parents vs kids!
6. An afternoon splashing through the waterpark at Sandos Caracol Eco Resort & Spa
7. Rainy day in paradise? Challenge the family to some video games!
8. And of course, a little something for Mom and Dad…
Check out one of the newest additions to Sandos Playacar Beach Resort & Spa! Bagel Beach opened in December 2012, offering a completely laid-back atmosphere on the resort’s Caribbean beach.
Dig in to a salty or sweet bagel with the sand between your toes while surrounded by tropical palapas, swaying palm trees and spectacular ocean views at Bagel Beach, our most recent a la carte restaurant. The menu is covered in mouthwatering recipes, including dessert bagels (hello, Nutella!), burgers, hot dogs and bagels with cool names like the “Explosive Firefighter Bagel”. Feeling summery? Try the Sandos Bagel with cheddar cheese, salami, provolone, lime vinaigrette, lettuce, tomato and onion.
Open for dinner, this casual spot has zero dress code! Just throw a cover-up over your swimsuit and you’re good to go.
By now you’re probably craving a breezy evening under the stars with cool drinks and good vibes. We’ve got just the place for that at Bagel Beach, open from 6:30 pm to 11 pm.
Apart from the usual route guided by our experts, Sandos San Blas includes now a new option to substitute part of the excursion for a virtual visit inside the hotel that will finish with a tasting of cheeses and wines typical of the Canary Islands. This will be a very special gastronomical experience.
Nature lovers do not worry, we keep doing the complete tour with the visit to the canyon.
Here you have the timetables and information for the reservations.
On December 1, 2012 Sandos Playacar Resort and Spa completed a lengthy project of extensive renovations in the Hacienda Section of the property. These hacienda-style suites now feature a fresh, minimalistic interior design and spacious private areas that combine to offer the ideal lodging option for couples and families.
Couples visiting Sandos Playacar will enjoy the quiet, romantic setting of the Hacienda Section, which features private outdoor pools and Jacuzzis. Families can take advantage of connecting rooms, which allow groups to book the suites together and share special vacation moments in the indoor and outdoor spaces.
Ideally located along the ”Camino de Salud” (Path of Health), an interpretive nature path, these suites feature outdoor patios set among lush tropical plants. Visitors can view a wide variety of birds and animals directly from these outdoor spaces, all of which lies just a short walk from the our pristine Playacar beach.
Sandos Playacar invites new and returning guests to book a hacienda suite for a unique and relaxing vacation in Playacar.
• 1 duck breast
• 700 grams of salt (depending on the size of the breast)
• freshly ground black pepper
• 1 tablespoon of duck fat or extra virgin olive oil
• Clean and dry the duck
• Place salt in small container
• Lay duck breast on salt bed and store in cold area for 12-20 hours
• Remove the salt
• Mix black pepper with duck fat and baste the breast in this mixture
• Place breast on a skewer or hook for curing
For high quality duck ham it is important to keep the duck in a cool, dry and draft-free area. If you have to put in the open, cover the breast with a fabric.
Curing time depends on size, climate, and humidity. If you have limited time to prepare the duck ham, buy a thinner piece of meat, and once it is almost cured, cut it into slices.
This will accelerate the drying, although thicker pieces will be more juicy.
It is very important to always keep the meat at a low temperature (between 4 and 10 degrees C)
