An Eco-Friendly Resort in Lanzarote

Our hotel in Lanzarote has received the Travelife Gold Certification, an award that recognizes the hotel’s efforts when it comes to sustainable materials, social actions, and protecting the local environment, both ecologically and culturally.

Sandos Papagayo Beach Resort has now won the Gold Certification from Travelife three times in a row. The efforts by the entire hotel staff as well as management have once again been rewarded by the Travelife brand and their certification, meaning that the hotel is internationally recommended for its sustainability in tourism as a Travelife-certified hotel.

Travelife and its sustainable tourism certification system have evaluated the development of our property in the responsible administration of its socioeconomic and environmental impacts.

To obtain a Travelife Gold Certification, the hotel is evaluated based on 163 sustainability criteria that are revised every two years. These evaluation criteria include environmental aspects like minimizing the amount of energy, waste and water. The social criteria recognize positive action for the well-being of employees, working with the local community and local companies, protecting children, and human rights. Certified properties must also show how they are protecting local traditions and the region’s wildlife.
